About the Gallery

Castell Photography, owned by internationally recognized artist Brie Castell, is a unique photographic Salon and Gallery dedicated solely to photo-based media. Our mission is to provide a platform for Asheville and western North Carolina showcasing the scope and variety of the photographic medium, from antiquarian processes dating to the early 1800's to the cutting-edge contemporary work by artists from around the globe. We exhibit challenging, one-of-a-kind, and 19th century print processes, and also offer a range of personalized photographic services. The gallery features the work of Brie Castell, and also hosts several rotating exhibitions each year of international, national, and regional photographers. As Asheville's only photography gallery, visitors experience a truly unique environment, and are encouraged to ask questions, learn about and view an enormous variety of photographic mediums and processes, peruse our collection of photography books and magazines, and enjoy a glass of wine or a cold beer.
