About Brie Castell
After earning a Master of Fine Arts degree in Photography in 2006 from East Carolina University, Brie Castell worked as a photography professor at both Pitt Community College and ECU. She has an extensive exhibition record, including numerous solo shows. In April of 2008, Brie was an exhibitor in “The Artist Project” at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago, an exhibition of undiscovered artists which attracted more than 50,000 visitors. She is a featured artist in the Fall 2009 issue of Eyemazing Magazine, an award winning Amsterdam-based photography publication. Castell's photographs are widely collected all over the world, and are in many public and private collections. Some interesting facts about Brie Castell: she holds a degree in English Literature; she once studied Hinduism and Buddhism at the graduate level at the University of London, England; she has bathed elephants in a river in Sri Lanka; she was once stranded in the middle of nowhere at 2am in the Czech Republic; she ran away at age 15 to Myrtle Beach; she has always dreamed of being a war photographer; and she hopes one day to have a farm, raise horses, miniature donkeys, and goats and be the best goat-cheese-maker in the world.
